I felt like something a little sweet - to be fair, most days I feel like something a little sweet. But today, I wanted gingerbread. Rich, spicy, not overly sweet. Dave likes his with a dollop of whipped cream, but I am a lemon curd kind of girl. My curd came out more saucey than curdy...curdly...thick. But it is tart and delicious and as soon as I run out of cake I am eating it with a spoon. Today was clear and breezy, perfect day to get the new elderberry starts in the
What a shocker!! Valentine's seems to be all about the foods at my house.
Yesterday was spent in the garden, so today is indoors, nursing sore muscles and cooking up a storm.
Got the stock pot on early to make chicken stock so Dave can have chicken noodle soup this week.
We are having steak and baked potatoes for dinner, because, you know, the D-man loves his meat and potatoes. Then I mixed up some apple bread pudding (one of his favorite desserts).

In our house, brussel sprouts have always been classified as "Ursula" food - you know, something only the Sea Witch would eat. They are rejected by all members of my family, so I don't make them very often. When I travelled more for work, they were one of those things I always ordered out.

We love love love pie. So I got up early, and started baking:

First Course: Feta Cheese and Kalam
My husband does not usually ask for special things. So when he came downstairs yesterday and said "Do I smell cinnamon rolls?", I took the hint. This morning, I made up another batch of these delicious rolls, using vanilla frosting instead of cream cheese frosting - not sure which I like more. And of course, this batch had raisins - just for Dave! Dough: 1 c warm milk 2 eggs 1/3 c melted butter 4 c flour 1/2 c sugar 1 packet rapid rise yeast Filling: 1 c brown sugar 2 T
Despite a career in I.T., I am not terribly gifted at the managing my Interweb presence. Mostly, I am tired of trying to keep track of multiple pages, so am giving the Blog approach a go. I don't have a lot to say, but I like to say it often.
Today is snowy and cold, I have cooked myself into a stupor, cleaned until I am tired, but the drive to produce has left me here!
Made some delicious brownies this morning;
Roasted cauliflower sandwiches for lunch (I know, it sou
